The answer: not yet — it's scheduled for October
There is no method to open the third floor in the current build. The door is in the game. It stays locked. No quest, item or sequence opens it.
It is not permanently cut, though. A player citing the update news reports:
"The update news includes a roadmap stating when they'll be adding new content — for example, the third floor is coming in October as a Halloween event."
So the correct answer to "how do I unlock the third floor" is: you don't, yet — it ships in October.
⚠️ That roadmap detail comes from one player relaying the developer's update notes. We have not read the roadmap directly (it lives in the developer's Discord and patch notes). Treat October as the stated plan, not a guarantee.
What players report about the current state
From the Steam thread "This is the FULL game?":
- The third floor door is visibly present — there is clearly a third floor
- It remains locked
- One player: "I ran out of quests to do, yet the door to the 3rd floor is still locked"
- Another: the game "officially is in Early Access" despite being marketed as a full release, with big updates promised on Discord
- A third describes reaching a narrative dead-end — the story is incomplete
- The developers shipped two updates in a single day shortly after launch, so the cadence is real
So the floor is built, gated, and waiting on content with a stated date.
Why you are seeing "unlock guides" elsewhere

guide sites have pages for them. A locked door with no key is an awkward thing to publish,
and the incentive to invent a procedure is obvious.
If a guide gives you specific steps to unlock the third floor, check whether it names a source. As of this page's verification date, no player report describes opening it — and the developer roadmap says it is not in the build yet.
What you can do instead
The second floor has content that many players have not finished — in particular the grain rot spreading on floor 2, which is cleared with the firefly bot rather than fought. See our floor 2 page.
Beyond that: deeper layers below the Outpost floors are where the Corrupted Elite and the Clown encounter live, and those are reachable now.
This page has an expiry date
The moment an update opens the third floor, everything above becomes wrong. The developer's Discord is where that would be announced first.
